{"id":34,"date":"2006-02-03T11:09:22","date_gmt":"2006-02-03T17:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montreal-realestate.ca\/english\/2006\/02\/2005-a-record-year-for-home-sales\/"},"modified":"2006-02-03T11:09:22","modified_gmt":"2006-02-03T17:09:22","slug":"2005-a-record-year-for-home-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montreal-realestate.ca\/english\/2005-a-record-year-for-home-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"2005: A Record Year for Home Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe exceptional strength of the real estate market over the past few years, and especially in 2005 when a new record of total sales dollar volume of units sold was set \u2013 $10 billion, shows that home ownership remains a priority for families,\u201d says Michel Beaus\u00e9jour, FCA, GMREB Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the average prices of single-family homes sold in 2005 when dividing the territory into administrative regions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Montreal: $315,000 (+4% compared to 2004)<\/li>\n<li>Laval: $202,000 (+8%)<\/li>\n<li>Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie: $187,000 (+9%)<\/li>\n<li>Laurentians: $181,000 (+10%)<\/li>\n<li>Lanaudi\u00e8re: $148,000 (+10%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not necessarily a true indication of the actual price of single-family homes in all sectors of the Greater Montreal area, but rather an indication of the trend in the average cost of properties located in the areas covered by the GMREB.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So what\u2019s in store for 2006?<\/strong> \u201cWe expect that 2006 will be similar to the last few years,<br \/>\nwhich means another very good year for the resale market,\u201d adds the GMREB spokesman. \u201cAlso, we expect that home prices will increase by an average of 5%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Greater Montr\u00e9al Real Estate Board is a non-profit organization and has more than 9,000 members, real estate brokers and agents.
