Are you all confused as to where to buy, what you want and where to begin? It can be daunting to start looking for a home. It’ s hard to know what to focus on.Here are some helpful hints to set you straight so you don’t drive your realtor mad:
2. Figure out where you want to live. You’ll go nuts, and frustrate your agent if you have more then two areas to look at. Three areas tops if they are all close together. Looking at too many areas or areas further apart is a good indication you don’t know what you want.
A good way to help you figure out what area to look in, do a checklist:
- Does it matter if there is traffic and noise?
- Is it important for me to have green space close by?
- Do I need to be close to shopping, cafes, libraries, etc.?
- Am I depending on public transport? Is it close by?
- How far am I from work? Do I like to commute?
- Do I get a good feeling from the neighbourhood?
Assuming you know if you want a house, condo or plex, what type of features can’t you live without? I would write this out in order of priority. You would be surprised that there are times you might have to drop one of them. And during this emotional process, it’s good to be clear about your needs.
These might sound very basic, however they are the foundation that you should be going back to if you get off track and loose focus. To not drive your realtor crazy, is to be clear on what you want.
